Insufficiently Identified Owner
This term refers to a property owner, especially real estate, whose details are not complete or up-to-date for their clear identification. This issue emerged between 1948-1989, when the mandatory registration of properties in the public registry was temporarily suspended in Czechoslovakia. If the owner or heir doesn't claim by December 31, 2023, their property will be transferred to the state under the new Civil Code. This approach addresses old ownership ambiguities, but it may have serious consequences for the affected owners.

As of February 1, 2023, there were 342 952 entries in the real estate cadaster for which the owner was unknown or insufficiently identified. These entries concern a total of 150 559 unique properties, including 147 004 pieces of land and 3 555 buildings. If you believe that your ancestors could be among these owners, you can initiate a search in the publicly accessible list, either through the cadaster or by using an ancestor's name. This will help you determine if your family has any unresolved property matters.
